In a city where Rajasthani cuisine is not that well known, Shraman promises to bring the real taste of Rajasthan.

Shraman is a luxurious dining restaurant at The Ashok, specializing in traditional Rajasthani food. It is chef-d’oeuvre of Jayaram Banon, the artful owner of restaurants in North-India. The restaurant is popular amongst the hard core vegetarians and satvik food lovers. For the masses that have moved from the neighbor, the state might find this restaurant as their savior when feeling homesick. The appetizing food and nicely decorated interior will surely help Shraman bag a place in the hearts of people of the city.

Drop in to feel Rajasthan
The hotel’s ambiance is quite amazing. The restaurant is decorated nicely with Rajasthani motifs and peacocks. It is based on a firozi theme and looks refreshing as well as glamorous. The décor is authentic and soothing. The walls, furniture, and murals have a lot of bling to give this place a rich appeal. The overall look gives you a feel of a fine dining place.

Culinary delights
Bored of Chinese and North-Indian? Head to Shraman. They offer authentic Marwari food. They also offer Jain and Gujarati cuisines. The food that is served is pure vegetarian. Dal Bhati Churma, Jodhpuri Mirchi ka Pakoda and Kalmi Vada are must try. The Paan Patta Chaat is unique and tastes good. The food gives you a pure taste of Rajasthan. The Rajasthani and Indian thalis are passable. The restaurant offers satvik food (no onion, no garlic). The Jain specialties and the Marwari starters are delicious. The food is well presented and the quality of the food is good. The desserts are also inviting. The Ghewar Malai Mishri was over sweetened and was perfect for people who like their desserts a bit too sweet. We also tried their Malai Rabari Angoori, and it was commendable. The prices are not too high and the quantity is sufficient.

Amazing sips
The mocktail menu at Shraman is quite impressive. They serve drinks like Blue Hawaiian and Italian Smooch. The Shraman Punch tastes good and is blended nicely. Their Ginger ale was fabulous. Shraman does not offer liquor! Well, it is justified with the cuisine offered.

Not so hospitable
The service at the restaurant is quite lousy even though the waiters are polite and provide recommendations from time to time. They would also try to accommodate any special request that you have. The food takes quite sometime to be served after being ordered. The overall prices are quite okay though.

So, if your taste buds crave Rajasthani or Gujarati, you can go there and have a wonderful time. Shraman has already made a name for itself, and the restaurant remains all full especially in the evenings.
